All of European football looks to Frankfurt: Ravens at Galaxy for the first ‘German Derby’

The entire European football world will be watching Frankfurt this Saturday. In Week 3 of the European Football Alliance, Frankfurt Galaxy and the Munich Ravens will face off in one of the biggest matchups the young league has seen so far. Kickoff at PSD Bank Arena is set for May 30th, 2026 at 6 PM CET.

While every other team in the league enters a bye week this weekend, Frankfurt and Munich will have the spotlight completely to themselves. As a result, attention around the matchup is expected to be massive. After the first two weeks of the new EFA season, the Munich Ravens already look like one of the strongest teams in Europe. Frankfurt meanwhile enters the game under early pressure after the heartbreaking opening loss against the Paris Musketeers and now desperately needs a statement victory at home.

Galaxy opened the season with a dramatic 20:21 defeat against Paris. The loss became especially painful because Frankfurt had already built a 20:7 lead during the fourth quarter before Paris completely turned the game around within just a few minutes. Still, Thomas Kösling’s team showed enormous potential throughout large stretches of the matchup. Especially defensively, Frankfurt looked dominant for long periods. Dominique Mambo intercepted Zach Edwards, while Mason Chambers delivered one of the defining moments of Week 1 with a pick six touchdown. The defensive line also constantly pressured Paris quarterback Zach Edwards throughout the evening. Offensively, quarterback Ethan Garbers continued to showcase his athleticism despite multiple sacks and repeatedly moved Frankfurt deep into opposing territory.

The Munich Ravens meanwhile travel to Frankfurt with enormous confidence. During their 58:30 victory against the Raiders Tirol, Munich dominated offensively almost at will. Quarterback Russell Tabor controlled the game comfortably, while running back Justin Rodney and wide receiver Louis Geyer continuously created explosive plays. Especially the Ravens rushing attack already looked extremely dangerous during Week 1. Defensively, Munich also appeared physical and opportunistic throughout the matchup. For many observers, the Ravens currently look like one of the most complete teams in the entire league.

One of the biggest questions heading into Saturday now becomes how Frankfurt’s defense will handle the versatility of Munich’s offense. At the same time, the atmosphere inside PSD Bank Arena could become a major factor as well. More than 5,600 fans already created an impressive environment during the opener against Paris. Against Munich, even bigger attention is expected.

Week 3 therefore becomes the first true blockbuster game in EFA history. Frankfurt needs a victory to avoid falling under major pressure early in the season. Munich meanwhile wants to take another step toward the top of the standings and further establish itself as a championship contender.
