Frankfurt Galaxy sign former UCLA quarterback Ethan Garbers

Frankfurt Galaxy have signed quarterback Ethan Garbers for the upcoming season. The 23-year-old American brings experience from NCAA Division I football, having been part of the Washington Huskies and the UCLA Bruins. Garbers now joins Frankfurt, where he is expected to take over a central role in the offense.

College career and development

After not seeing game action during the 2020 season at Washington, Garbers transferred to UCLA, where he gradually worked his way into a larger role. Over four seasons with the Bruins, he appeared in 40 games and developed from a backup quarterback into a full-time starter.

In the 2024 season, Garbers started 11 games under head coach Chip Kelly and recorded 2,727 passing yards and 16 touchdowns. Across his college career, he totaled 4,462 passing yards and 31 touchdowns, reflecting a steady increase in responsibility and production over time.

Path to the professional level

Following his college career, Garbers entered the 2025 NFL Draft but went undrafted. He later signed with the Carolina Panthers as an undrafted free agent but was released during training camp.

With his move to Frankfurt, Garbers now begins his professional career in Europe.

Fit in Frankfurt

Garbers is considered a precise short-to-intermediate passer with solid decision-making and consistent completion rates throughout his college career. He also offers enough mobility to extend plays, adding another dimension to the Galaxy offense.

He replaces last season’s starting quarterback Jameson Wang and is expected to play a key role in Frankfurt’s offensive system.

With Garbers, the Galaxy add a quarterback with proven college production, experience at a high level, and further development potential. The signing underlines the team’s ambition to remain competitive in the race for the playoffs.
