Jaylon Henderson sees strong potential in the Prague Lions
The Prague Lions enter the inaugural EFA season with high expectations. After several organizational changes over the past years, the franchise hopes to begin a new chapter in 2026. A central piece of that process will be quarterback Jaylon Henderson, who is now living in Prague full time and has already made a strong impression during the first weeks with the team.
“Prague is truly a special place,” Henderson explained. The quarterback had visited the city several times before, but now has the opportunity to experience it as his new home. According to Henderson, the city and organization have exceeded his expectations so far. At the same time, he already feels a completely different level of energy and professionalism around the Prague Lions.
From a football perspective, Henderson also sounds confident shortly before the start of the season. The American quarterback praised both the organization and the work done throughout camp and preseason practices. “The management is doing a phenomenal job taking care of the players,” said the Prague Lions quarterback. Henderson also highlighted Head Coach Dave Warner and Offensive Coordinator Coach Armstrong for the way they have handled preparations leading into the season. According to Henderson, the response from the players to the new structure has been extremely positive.
The quarterback especially praised the local Czech players on the roster. “The Czech guys are incredibly smart and very educated young men,” Henderson explained. He believes that mentality could become an important factor for the development of the entire team moving forward. Overall, Henderson admitted that the Prague Lions have already exceeded his expectations.
Another major topic surrounding the Prague Lions is Henderson’s connection with wide receiver Willie P. For the quarterback, the receiver has already become one of the most impressive teammates he has worked with in Europe. “Willie P is probably one of the best imports I’ve ever had on my team. On the field and off the field,” Henderson explained. He especially highlighted the receiver’s leadership qualities and daily influence on the locker room. At the same time, Henderson avoided making bold promises before the season, repeatedly emphasizing that the team prefers to let its performances speak for themselves.
In 2026, Henderson will also face one of the strongest quarterback groups European football has seen in recent years, including names such as Zach Edwards, Jadrian Clark, Ethan Garbers, Russell Tabor, and Steven Krajewski. However, the Prague Lions quarterback views that competition mainly as additional motivation. Henderson acknowledged the quality and experience of the other quarterbacks but also stressed that games are not won on paper.
“Just because something looks good on paper doesn’t mean it’s going to look that way between the lines,” Henderson said. Because of that, he expects an extremely competitive season with close games and a high overall level across the EFA. According to Henderson, that competitiveness was one of the main reasons so many players decided to join the new league. “Every team has strong coaches and good organizations. That’s why every single week is going to be a battle,” he explained.
Henderson is especially excited about what fans will experience throughout the inaugural EFA season. The league brings together strong organizations, experienced players, and several high profile matchups. The quarterback himself appears calm, focused, and confident that the Prague Lions will look far more competitive this season than in previous years.
Away from football, Henderson has already started adapting to life in the Czech Republic. The quarterback joked that he has already learned a few Czech words, including “děkuji” and “prosím.” For the Prague Lions, however, the most important thing is that their new quarterback already seems fully comfortable both on and off the field. With Henderson leading the offense, several new imports, and a restructured roster, the Prague Lions hope to become one of the surprise teams of the inaugural EFA season.
