Nordic Storm Dominates in Frankfurt

Nordic Storm once again underlined its championship credentials with a convincing 47-9 road victory over Frankfurt Galaxy in Week 12 of the European Football Alliance season. In front of 5,125 fans at PSD Bank Arena, the visitors controlled the game from start to finish and improved to 8-1, heading into the regular-season finale against the already qualified Munich Ravens full of confidence. Frankfurt, meanwhile, has now lost three straight games and is still not qualified for the BIG4 Playoff Weekend.

Storm Offense Takes Control Early

The Scandinavian offense found its rhythm from the opening drive. Quarterback Jadrian Clark spread the ball efficiently across his receiving corps and led Nordic Storm to a 13-0 first-quarter advantage. Simon Fons opened the scoring with a 38-yard touchdown reception before running back Glen Toonga added the second touchdown of the afternoon. By halftime, Storm had extended its lead to 19-3, giving Frankfurt little opportunity to establish any offensive momentum.

Clark once again demonstrated why he is considered one of the EFA’s elite quarterbacks. He completed 32 of his 47 pass attempts for 440 yards and five touchdown passes. Brendan Beaulieu continued his outstanding season with 11 receptions for 149 yards and two touchdowns, while Simon Fons added four catches for 96 yards and two scores of his own. Glen Toonga contributed another all-around performance, finishing with 108 rushing yards, 74 receiving yards, and 182 all-purpose yards.

Galaxy Battles but Finds Only a few Answers

All eyes were on new quarterback Zach Calzada, who made his debut for Frankfurt after joining the team during the bye week. Facing one of the league’s top defenses, the American endured a difficult afternoon as constant pressure from the Storm pass rush resulted in seven sacks. Nevertheless, Calzada showed flashes of his potential and finished his debut with 178 passing yards, including a spectacular 48-yard touchdown strike to Tyler Foster.

Foster led the Galaxy receivers with 66 yards and the team’s only touchdown, while Paul Kavadia-Lenhardt recorded eight receptions for 66 yards and served as Calzada’s most reliable target throughout much of the game. Defensively, Mason Chambers led Frankfurt with 12 tackles, while newly signed linebacker Fabian Weitz made his first appearance for the Galaxy.

After the game, Frankfurt head coach Thomas Kösling refused to place the blame solely on his new quarterback.

“Nordic was the better team. It was clear that it would be difficult with a new quarterback,” Kösling said.

He also pointed to the team’s injury problems along the offensive line.

“When you come in as a new quarterback and your entire offensive line is banged up, you’re basically under pressure the whole game. He never really had the chance to feel comfortable.”

Defense Makes the Difference

Ultimately, it was Nordic Storm’s defense that once again proved decisive. The unit finished with seven sacks, forced two turnovers, and allowed only 198 total offensive yards. Linebacker Hugo Dyrendahl led the way with 11 tackles and 1.5 sacks, while David Tawake, Lucky Ogbevoen, Ludvig Myren, and Wilfried Pene consistently disrupted Frankfurt’s offense. A blocked field goal returned for a touchdown by Jumilson Moreira Ferreira in the closing seconds capped another dominant defensive performance by the visitors.

Everything Comes Down to the Final Week

With the victory, Nordic Storm heads into next week’s showdown against the Munich Ravens full of momentum as the two league heavyweights battle for first place in the regular-season standings. Frankfurt Galaxy, meanwhile, now turns its full attention to a winner-take-all matchup against the Prague Lions. Despite the setback, Kösling remains confident.

“We want to beat Prague. That has to be our standard. I’m not going to give up.”

That sets the stage for a true playoff showdown, with a final ticket to the EFA BIG4 Playoff Weekend on the line.
