Nordic Storm land All-Star defensive back Mitch Fettig
The Nordic Storm have completed their import roster for the 2026 EFA season by signing defensive back Mitch Fettig. The American joins the Danish franchise after a highly successful stint with Stuttgart Surge, adding experience, production, and championship pedigree to the defense. With Fettig, the Storm secure a proven playmaker in the secondary and finalize their four American import spots for the upcoming season.
Proven production at the highest level
Fettig made his debut in European top-level football in 2023 with Stuttgart Surge and quickly became one of the most impactful defensive backs in the league. His performances earned him All-Star recognition, including a First Team selection.
Over the past three seasons, Fettig has appeared in 36 games, recording 173 tackles, 8.5 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, and 11 interceptions. In the 2025 season alone, he contributed 43 tackles, 0.5 sacks, and two interceptions, once again underlining his consistent production on defense.
Championship experience and winning mentality
In 2025, Fettig won the championship with Stuttgart Surge, adding another title to his résumé. Prior to that, he already captured both the German Bowl and the CEFL Bowl with the Schwäbisch Hall Unicorns in 2022. His experience in winning environments makes him a valuable addition for a Storm team with clear ambitions.
Path from college to Europe
Fettig played college football at Eastern Washington University, where he was a multi-year contributor and team captain. Across 44 games, he recorded 282 tackles, six interceptions, and 17 pass breakups, earning multiple All-Conference honors.
After college, he signed with the Calgary Stampeders in the Canadian Football League before continuing his career in Europe, where he developed into a top defensive back.
Key addition for the Storm defense
With the signing of Mitch Fettig, the Nordic Storm add a defensive cornerstone to their roster. His combination of production, experience, and playmaking ability is expected to strengthen the secondary and elevate the overall defense.
As the final import addition for the 2026 season, Fettig completes a roster built to compete at a high level, with the clear goal of establishing the Storm among the top teams in the EFA.
