Nordic Storm stays unbeaten after victory over Raiders Tirol
Nordic Storm remains undefeated in the EFA after securing another home victory at Gladsaxe Stadium. The Scandinavian franchise defeated the Raiders Tirol 39:16 and once again confirmed the strong impression from the opening weeks of the season. Especially during the fourth quarter, Storm showcased its offensive firepower and eventually pulled away from the Austrian side. For the Raiders meanwhile, the game once again highlighted that too many missed opportunities still prevent them from competing consistently with the league’s top teams.
The matchup actually started far more balanced than the final score might suggest. Tirol’s defense opened the game aggressively and immediately forced Jadrian Clark into a quick punt on the opening drive. Offensively, the Raiders also moved the football reasonably well early on, but a sack against quarterback Steven Krajewski and several inaccurate throws prevented longer drives from developing.
Nordic Storm meanwhile needed only a few explosive plays to become dangerous. Running back Glen Toonga especially created problems early with multiple physical runs that quickly moved the offense downfield. Shortly afterwards, Jadrian Clark connected deep with receiver Roberto Miranda before Brendan Beaulieu scored the opening touchdown of the evening. Not long later, Miranda added another score and Storm quickly jumped out to a 13:0 lead.
The Raiders responded with their best drive of the first half. Aaron Jackson and Marco Schneider converted important first downs, while Lukas Haslwanter and Steven Krajewski repeatedly generated rushing yards themselves. Near the goal line, however, the Storm defense held strong and Tirol ultimately settled for a field goal by Jonata Loria.
One of the biggest missed opportunities of the game followed shortly afterwards. Nordic Storm lost the football on the ensuing kickoff return, giving Tirol excellent field position deep inside Storm territory. But once again, a sack and multiple incomplete passes prevented the Raiders from capitalizing. Loria then missed a 44 yard field goal attempt and Storm escaped the dangerous situation without further damage.
Nordic Storm immediately punished those missed chances. Jadrian Clark settled into rhythm and distributed the football much more efficiently. Brendan Beaulieu increasingly became the primary target within the passing attack. Shortly before halftime, Tirol suffered another major setback. Krajewski moved the Raiders deep into the red zone, but his pass was intercepted by Maceo Beard. Instead of potential points for Tirol, Storm entered halftime with a comfortable 13:3 lead.
Raiders briefly fight back after halftime
The Raiders returned from the locker room with renewed energy. Krajewski connected deep with Aaron Jackson and quickly moved Tirol close to the goal line. Moments later, Tobias Bonatti powered his way into the end zone for the visitors’ first touchdown of the game, suddenly cutting the deficit to only 10:13.
But once again, Nordic Storm immediately answered like a championship contender. Jadrian Clark delivered several precise completions to Brendan Beaulieu, Jakob Green and Roberto Miranda before Glen Toonga finished the drive with another rushing touchdown to extend the lead to 19:10. The star running back once again confirmed his status as one of the most dominant ball carriers in European football with multiple explosive plays throughout the evening.
Storm closes the game in dominant fashion
The fourth quarter ultimately decided the game completely. Tirol briefly created hope after Jonas Fuschelberger intercepted Jadrian Clark, but the momentum disappeared almost immediately. On the following possession, Steven Krajewski threw an interception himself to Brandon Bryant and Storm once again took full advantage.
Roberto Miranda increased the lead to 25:10 shortly afterwards before Glen Toonga added another touchdown to create clear separation. Tirol still continued to fight and Aaron Jackson remained one of the most productive offensive players on the field. Lukas Haslwanter later added another touchdown for the Raiders, but the failed two point conversion prevented any serious comeback attempt.
Instead, Nordic Storm delivered the final highlight of the evening shortly before the end of regulation. Jadrian Clark found Brendan Beaulieu deep downfield for a 39 yard touchdown pass that sealed the final 39:16 scoreline.
Offensively, Nordic Storm once again looked extremely impressive. Jadrian Clark controlled the game confidently for long stretches, while Glen Toonga, Brendan Beaulieu and Roberto Miranda continuously produced explosive plays. Defensively, Storm also delivered in critical moments and forced multiple turnovers and negative plays against Tirol.
For the Raiders Tirol, there were still positive signs despite the defeat. Defensively, the team competed well for large parts of the game and offensively there were visible improvements compared to Week 1. However, turnovers, missed opportunities and individual mistakes ultimately prevented a closer contest against one of the strongest teams in the EFA right now.
Nordic Storm now enters the Week 3 bye undefeated at 2:0 and remains on top of the EFA standings. The Raiders Tirol meanwhile fall to 0:2 before also heading into their bye week looking to regroup after a difficult opening stretch of the season.
