Nordic Storm wants to keep first place

Nordic Storm enters Week 2 of the new EFA season with major momentum. After a dominant 47:13 opening victory against the Prague Lions, the Danish franchise now prepares for another home game at Gladsaxe Stadium in Copenhagen on Saturday evening. Their opponent will be the Raiders Tirol, who are already searching for answers after the offensive shootout against the Munich Ravens.

Thanks to the league’s current point differential, Nordic Storm enters the weekend as the number one team in the EFA standings. With another victory, the Danish franchise could further strengthen its early position at the top of the league. Meanwhile, the Raiders want to prove that the 30:58 defeat in Munich did not fully reflect the true potential of the team.

Nordic Storm already looks like one of the league’s most complete teams

Quarterback Jadrian Clark delivered one of the most impressive performances of the opening weekend. The experienced passer dominated the Prague Lions almost at will, completing 26 of his 33 passes for 390 yards and five touchdowns without throwing an interception. Especially the chemistry with wide receiver Brendan Beaulieu immediately looked elite. The American receiver finished the game with nine catches for 131 yards and four touchdowns. At the same time, running back Glen Toonga already showed his trademark explosiveness early in the season with two rushing touchdowns.

But Nordic Storm impressed far beyond the offense. Defensively, the team from Copenhagen also looked extremely physical and disciplined. The pass rush constantly pressured Prague quarterback Jaylon Henderson and forced multiple mistakes throughout the game. New arrival Mitchel Fettig additionally recorded an interception in his first game for Nordic Storm.

With the current form of Jadrian Clark, Glen Toonga and Brendan Beaulieu, Nordic Storm already looks like one of the most dangerous teams in the EFA. Especially the combination of explosive offense and aggressive defense gave the impression of a surprisingly well synchronized roster early in the season.

Raiders Tirol still searching for defensive solutions

Despite the heavy loss against Munich, Raiders Head Coach Shuan Fatah still took several positives away from Week 1. Especially offensively, the veteran coach liked what he saw from his team.

„I was very positively surprised by our offense. What we faced in Munich is among the very best you can get in Europe. For that, we performed well and scored 30 points on the board.“

Quarterback Steven Krajewski especially impressed despite the loss. His 331 passing yards currently rank second best in the league after Week 1. The connection with receiver Aaron Jackson immediately became one of the biggest bright spots for Tirol. Jackson finished the game with 147 receiving yards and two touchdowns against Munich.

Receiver Toni Rabensteiner also made an impact with his touchdown against the Ravens, while the rushing attack around Tobias Bonatti, Lukas Haslwanter and Tim Tonko is expected to play an even bigger role against Nordic Storm.

Still, Tirol fully understands that defensive improvements will be necessary heading into Copenhagen.

„Our defense caused us some concerns, but these are mistakes we can clearly analyze and correct during film study.“

Fatah also emphasized that the Raiders remain in the middle of a larger rebuilding process.

„The biggest secret in football is continuity at the quarterback position and within the coaching staff. Teams like Munich or Nordic Storm have been working on their core for two or three years and only add pieces selectively. We are not at that point yet as Raiders Tirol, but we are working hard to get there.“

Summer atmosphere expected at Gladsaxe Stadium

Nordic Storm once again expects a special game day atmosphere around Gladsaxe Stadium. The large fan zone will already open three hours before kickoff with music, food, drinks and multiple fan activities. Organizers are expecting another strong crowd under warm summer conditions in Copenhagen.

With Nordic Storm entering Week 2 at 1:0 and the Raiders sitting at 0:1, Saturday evening presents a matchup between two teams carrying completely different momentum into the weekend. While Nordic Storm aims to continue its early dominance and defend first place in the standings, Raiders Tirol hopes to deliver its first major response of the new EFA season.
