Paris Remains Perfect: Prague Lions Already Under Pressure After Second Straight Loss
The Paris Musketeers remain undefeated in the EFA after securing a convincing 30:9 home victory over the Prague Lions at Stade Bauer. While Paris improved to 2 0 on the season, the Lions now sit at 0 2 and are already facing pressure early in the year. Once again, Prague struggled to consistently move the ball offensively and failed to seriously challenge one of the league’s top teams.
The game actually started relatively well for Prague. Quarterback Jaylon Henderson and running back Adam Žouželka moved the ball effectively on the opening drives. The Lions’ biggest moment came midway through the first quarter when Henderson connected with Matyáš Bílý for a 39 yard touchdown pass. However, the missed extra point prevented Prague from fully capitalizing on the momentum early in the game.
Paris looked far more controlled and efficient throughout the night. Quarterback Zach Edwards calmly managed the offense and consistently made smart decisions. Wide receiver Hugo Tekedam became one of the key playmakers and finished the game with two touchdown receptions. At the same time, the Musketeers increasingly controlled the matchup with their rushing attack. Nicolas Khandar, Jason Bofunda and Edwards himself continuously generated important yardage and kept Prague’s defense on the field for long stretches.
The Paris defense ultimately made the biggest difference. Henderson faced constant pressure throughout the game. Mamadou Sy, Baptiste Pollier, Jack Loew and Digaan Gomis repeatedly forced significant losses of yardage for the Prague offense. Multiple sacks disrupted drives and prevented the Lions from finding any real rhythm offensively. One sequence in the fourth quarter perfectly summarized Prague’s night. The Lions had reached the red zone but once again lost critical yards after another sack and had to settle for a field goal instead of a potential touchdown. Those situations repeatedly hurt Prague throughout the game.
Despite the loss, the Lions showed a few positive signs offensively. William Patterson once again played an important role in the passing game while Henderson repeatedly showcased his athleticism as a runner. Still, the same issues that already appeared against Nordic Storm remained visible. Protection problems, inconsistent drives and difficulties against physical defenses continue to hold Prague back early in the season.
For the Paris Musketeers, the victory marks a perfect start to the EFA season. The team looked physical, disciplined and highly balanced on offense. After two weeks, Paris already appears to be one of the strongest teams in the league and has sent a clear message to the rest of the competition.
Both teams will now enter a bye week in Week 3. Especially for the Prague Lions, the break could become extremely important to fully analyze the problems from the first two games. After back to back losses against strong opponents, Prague already faces pressure to improve offensively and find more consistency on both sides of the ball. Paris meanwhile can use the bye week to build on its strong start and carry significant momentum into the upcoming weeks.
