Russell Tabor wants to take Munich Ravens one step further
After an impressive first season in European football, Russell Tabor enters 2026 with even bigger expectations surrounding him. The quarterback of the Munich Ravens led the franchise to the semifinals in 2025 and quickly established himself as one of the most productive quarterbacks in the league. Despite that success, Tabor himself believes there is still much more potential left to unlock.
“I honestly was not super pleased or impressed with myself last year,” Tabor admitted. While many viewed his first season in Europe as a breakthrough year, the quarterback believes he could have delivered even more for Munich Ravens. “I felt like I could have played much better and helped us get all the way to the championship,” he explained. That mindset now drives him heading into the inaugural EFA season.
Before arriving in Europe, Tabor spent time at the University of North Carolina, where he gained valuable experience behind future NFL quarterbacks Drake Maye and Sam Howell. In 2024, he decided to take the next step in his career and moved overseas to join Osos Rivas Madrid in Spain. The quarterback immediately impressed in his first European season, leading the team all the way to the Spanish Bowl. During that year, Tabor completed 110 of 170 passes for 1,491 yards and 23 touchdowns while throwing only four interceptions. He also added four rushing touchdowns and showcased the athleticism that would later help him succeed with Munich Ravens.
In 2025, Tabor continued his development in Munich and quickly became one of the league’s most dangerous quarterbacks. During the regular season, he recorded 2,315 passing yards and 27 touchdown passes while helping Munich Ravens reach the semifinals. His combination of size, arm strength, mobility, and football IQ turned him into a difficult challenge for opposing defenses throughout the year.
Now, heading into the new EFA season, Munich Ravens have surrounded their quarterback with even more talent. The franchise added several new weapons on offense, including wide receiver Luis Gaya and running back Justus Seelig. According to Tabor, the depth around him is significantly stronger than last year. “As a quarterback, that’s exactly what you want. Great players and great people around you,” Tabor explained. At the same time, he knows that having so many offensive weapons creates another challenge: making sure everybody stays involved.
The quarterback also praised the overall development of the roster during camp. Compared to 2025, Munich Ravens now have far more depth at multiple positions, especially at wide receiver and defensive back. “Last year at times we only had about five healthy receivers in camp,” Tabor explained. This season, the increased depth allows the team to run far more competitive drills and higher intensity practices. According to the quarterback, that daily competition has elevated the overall level of the team.
Despite entering a league loaded with talented quarterbacks such as Jadrian Clark, Zach Edwards, Ethan Garbers, Jaylon Henderson, and Steven Krajewski, Tabor approaches the competition with confidence and curiosity rather than pressure. “There are parts of every quarterback’s game that I can learn from,” he explained. The Munich Ravens quarterback is especially excited for the direct matchups against the other elite passers in the EFA.
Away from football, Tabor also spent parts of the offseason in Munich instead of remaining in the United States the entire time. Maintaining chemistry with teammates and coaches was important for him. At the same time, he used the opportunity to get to know the city better. “Munich keeps getting prettier and prettier as summer approaches,” Tabor said with a smile.
When asked about the biggest challenge in the EFA, the quarterback refused to name a single opponent. Instead, Tabor believes every matchup in the new league will require maximum focus. “There’s not a single team where we can win without bringing our A game,” explained the quarterback of Munich Ravens. For him, the main focus remains internal improvement rather than outside expectations.
That mentality reflects the overall ambition inside Munich Ravens. After reaching the semifinals in 2025, the organization now wants to take the next step toward a championship. With a deeper roster, more continuity, and a quarterback entering his second season in Europe, Munich Ravens believe they have the foundation to compete with every team in the EFA.
